Vacation

I'm heading to Ohio next week to visit family, so no progress tonight and in all likelihood, no progress or posts for the next week.  I've brought a volume of M.R. James and H.P. Lovecraft to sustain me.  Let's see how Dave and the dog do without me :)

Thursday

Another two pages of typescript transferred over to Open Office Writer. I have passed the 5k work mark. I will undoubtedly cut some of this out in later drafts, but with 10 more pages of typescript to go, I doubt this story will be under 5k words.

Tuesday

I was down for the count with this cold all day, but am starting to feel better. Better luck tomorrow I hope.

Sick

Not feeling well tonight. I'm pretty sure that I've come down with a cold. No progress.

Living Room Redo

First, the writing news. Transferring the typescript to Open Office Writer continues. I entered another two pages tonight, and stopped when my focus began to drift. Given that I'm making the first wave of edits as I transfer, I think this is the way to go.

In other news, the budget redo of our living area is complete. We spent about $315 dollars ($150 on a new rug, $100 on a table form Craigslist, plus $30 in pillows, a $20 throw, and $15 on some Old English and a touch-up pen for the table). This is the result. The dog and I are pleased.

A Not So Awesome First

Yesterday marked the first time that I have failed to post since I started this blog. Happily, I had a very good reason. Dave successfully defended his dissertation, and a celebration was in order. I got back on the saddle today, and have resumed transferring my draft to the word processor.

It Begins

I've begun transferring my typescript into an Open Office word document. Lo and behold as I wage war with self doubt! Also, I think I'd like a laptop. Not to replace the typewriter, just the desktop.

The Dreaded Red Pen

Today marked the first day of editing. My twenty-five page typescript is now drenched in red ink. I'd like to say that I'll start typing the draft into my computer tomorrow, but as tomorrow is Easter I'm not holding my breath.

Almost Too Late

I almost forgot to post tonight! No progress on my writing, but its been a busy day overall so I don't feel bad about it. I'll need to consider what counts as progress in the editing process.

Draft One

I just finished typing the first draft of this story. I won't bother with a page count, as some pages are only half full, but it's a good looking stack of paper and I am pleased. Now, on to editing/rewriting/being extremely critical of myself. Oh joy! Oh rapture! But this is what I was working towards in step one, wasn't it?

April Fools Day

No joke here. I managed to write another six paragraphs plus dialog. The end is near!
